Rosa’s funeral service will be 2 pm Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Tim Ramsey officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Chapel.

Visitation will be from 1 pm till the time of service at the funeral home.

Rosa Bell Cottrill, 97, of Linn, passed away January 7, 2025, at home.

She was born August 30, 1927, in Braxton County, a daughter of the late William Riley and Flossie Tucker Weese.

Rosa was a homemaker. She previously worked for Kinney Shoe Company and Conrad’s Hotel in Glenville. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, playing croquet, Rook and Bingo. Her family was her world. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by husband, Minter Cottrill, whom she married December 2, 1952; brothers, Joseph, Henry, Andy, William, John and Jeremiah Weese; sisters, Mary Weese, Marie Parsons and J. Pearl Perkins; children, Goldie Holmes, William “Buster” Collins and Larry Cottrill.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Percie “Jane” Hickman, Neva Cottrill, Betty Anderson (Ray) and Dianna Curry (Kevin); grandchildren, Jeffrey Patterson, Janet Anderson, Casey Hickey, Tony Cottrill, Michael Holmes, Josh Holmes, Chris Luzier, Cortney Luzier and Rachel Ashby; great grandchildren, Quinn Luzier, Beau Luzier and Chloe Ashby; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to Rosa’s caretaker, Diana Vance, for her loving and compassionate care.
