Caryl Jean Nottingham, 85, of Strange Creek, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Braxton County Memorial Hospital.

She was born January 2, 1937 in Dalton, Minnesota to the late Victor C. Spitsburge and Orpha J. Synstelien Spitsburge.

Caryl was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Nottingham; daughter, Darla Jean Nottingham; sister, Juanita Third; and brother Vernon Spitsburge.

She was a homemaker, but earlier in her life she was a cook for San Pedro Local Hospital when she lived in California. She could crochet and knit and also loved to cook and bake. She enjoyed reading murder mystery novels. Caryl loved to watch NCIS and Law and Order on the television. She was an upbeat woman with a positive attitude towards life.

Caryl is survived by her son, Rick Nottingham, of California; four grandchildren, Danny Nottingham and wife, Monica, Tina Nottingham, Derek Lancaster and Caitlyn Lancaster, and one great granddaughter, Danica Nottingham.

Her funeral will be 9 A.M. Wednesday, August 3rd at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Reverend Johnny Conrad officiating. Burial will follow in the Nottingham Cemetery, Duck, WV.

Her visitation will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, August 2nd at the funeral home.
