Kent Dobbins, 88, of Gassaway entered into a new life on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at his daughter and son-in-law’s house, surrounded by his family. He was born in Servia on December 3, 1935, to the late Reverend C.C. “Jack” Dobbins and Eunice Marie Bragg Dobbins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Fox Dobbins; his second wife, Brenda Argabrite Dobbins; and his son, Rick Dobbins. Kent loved the outdoors. He was a collector of guns and knives. For 40 plus years he worked for Bi-Con of which he was superintendent most of his career. Cattle farming was another hobby that he enjoyed. His farm on Tate Creek was Farm of the Year in 2001 and he was so proud of that. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his only grandson. Kent served in the United States Army and several years in the Army National Guard. He attended the Elk River Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Shelley Cottrill, and husband, Dennis, of Gassaway; grandson, Tyler Kent Cottrill and wife, Taylor, of Charlotte, NC; brother, Rodney Dobbins and wife, Linda, of Clem; and sister, Carolyn Patrick of Clem. He is also survived by great grandchildren, Tatum and Tyce Cottrill; and several nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his favorite girl, Maltese, Katie Pooh, who was with him till the end.
