Glennis Virginia Drake, 90, of Ivydale, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Clay Health Care Center, Big Otter, WV. She was born on September 3, 1934, in Clay County to the late Clarence Keener and Nealie Nottingham Keener. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronsel Drake; daughter, Linda Harrison; son-in-law, George Harrison; great grandsons, Isaac Murphy and Jack Cummings; brothers, James “Jimmy” Keener, Gory Keener, Glenn Keener, Johnny Keener, and Gerald Keener; and sister, Pearlie Douglas. Glennis enjoyed caring for her home and gardening. For a time spanning over 3 decades she was a caregiver for others. She liked spending time with her husband and family. During the last 10 years of her life she and her family spent time bird watching and bird feeding. She would travel on car trips with her best friend. Glennis was proud of her Indian heritage and she was also a Baptist by faith. Left to cherish her memories are her son, Jerry Drake of Virgina Beach, Virginia, and Christopher Drake and wife, Julia, of Sutton; grandchildren, Jerri Drake of Gassaway, Stacy Murphy of Summersville, Twyla Harrison of Charleston, Richard Drake and wife, Teresa, of Ivydale, Skylee Wenger and husband, Jackson, of Japan, and Alexia Ware and husband, Kyle, of Cross Lanes; sister, Sharon “Sissy” Keener of Ivydale; great granddaughters, Jennifer Wilson and husband, Logan, of Flatwoods, Ashley Schultz and husband, Kody, of Ivydale, and Hannah Drake also of Ivydale; and great great grandchildren, Walker Smith, Wesley Smith and Delila Wilson.
