Joseph Frederick Haefner

Joseph Frederick Haefner, 81, of Sutton passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at WVU Medicine Braxton County Memorial Hospital, Gassaway, WV.

He was born on July 20, 1943, at Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, DC to the late Joseph Alexander Haefner and Erna Katrin Otte Haefner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gracie Williams.

Joseph retired with 25 years from the United States Department of State Foreign Service.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Ann Boggs Haefner; son, Joseph Joshua Haefner of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Lori Hollingsworth of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Joseph’s wishes he will be cremated and a private service will be held at a later date.
