David E. Tonkin (Murphy)

David E. Tonkin (Murphy), 61, of Gassaway, WV passed away on January 4, 2025, after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arden Murphy and grandparents, William and Edith Murphy of Gassaway and Charles and Ruby Tonkin of Erbacon.

Surviving him is his mother, E. Jean Murphy of Gassaway, WV; brother, Patrick Murphy (Christy) of Strange Creek, WV; and sister, Laura Murphy of Heaters, WV. He is also survived by a special niece, Rachel Cole of Jane Lew, WV; and special nephew, Blaine Murphy of Piqua, Ohio; and his best friend since childhood, Randy Allen also of Gassaway, WV.

David was a mechanic by trade and worked alongside his father at Murphy Auto Repair.

At his request David will be cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
