John Wayne Cantrell, 59, of Sabraton, passed away July 10, 2016 at home, in his sleep. He was born September 7, 1956 at Gassaway. John had a great sense of humor. He was a natural artist and an avid outdoorsman. He loved running the hills of West Virginia and up and down the Elk River. He traveled across the country and loved adventure. He was preceded in death by his father, Overton Lee “Obie” Cantrell. John is survived by son, John Wayne Cantrell II of Morgantown; mother, Letha White Cantrell of Gassaway; sister, Nancy Cantrell-Byrd of Westover; brother, Steven Lee Cantrell of Ft. Bragg, NC; companion, Melodie Hatch of Saberton. Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Allen Legg officiating.
