Dana Basil Ramsey Jr., 74 of Sutton, WV left his Earthly home and was welcomed with open arms through the Heavenly gates on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Dana was a Christian by faith. He was the son of the late Dana B. Ramsey and Helen L. Ramsey. Dana wore many hats in his lifetime. He was a coal miner, worked in sawmills and was a mechanic. He had a passion for cars, especially older models. In his pastime, that is where you could find him, outside tinkering on a vehicle. His 1988 Mercury was his pride and joy! When he wasn’t working on a car, you could find him sitting in his good ole lazy boy recliner watching a good western movie. He loved his family and friends more than anything in the world! Dana always had a smile on his face or had something funny to say. He never had an unkind word to anyone. He was best known to have the kindest heart and would lend a hand to anyone that needed one. Other than his family, he was so proud of being an Air Force Veteran. He wore his hats every day with so much pride! Dana (AKA, Junior) was preceded in death by his father, Dana B. Ramsey; mother, Helen L. Ramsey; sister, Barbara Ramsey; son, Christopher M. Ramsey; and granddaughter, MaChaela A. Keener. Left to cherish his memories are his siblings, Myrtle Utley and Ralph Ramsey; his children, Stacy Jirles (Lisa), Leslie Ramsey, Douglas Duckworth, Timothy Todd (Irina), Dana Ramsey (Barb), Tonya Haley, Carlina Ramsey, David Ramsey and Jamie Jones. Dana also had 30 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews that he adored. Dana also held a special place in his heart for his good friends, Leonard McElwaine, Beaver (Toby Gill), Jack Friend, Harry Stout, William Goodson and many others. To honor Dana’s wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest on Saturday, August 31 at 1 pm in the Ramsey Family Cemetery in Clay. We will be having a Celebration of Life Potluck dinner at the Gassaway Community Building on Saturday, August 31st from 4-6 pm. All family and friends are welcome to attend. |
