Sunday August 11, 2024, at Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton Street, Gassaway, WV with Pastor Bill Morlan officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Her burial will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway. Carol Hartley, 83, of Flatwoods, entered her Heavenly Home on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on November 10, 1940, in Newton, WV to the late Robert E. Cook and Emma U. Hanshaw Cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven siblings. Carol loved her family. Sewing, reading and flower gardening were her favorite pastimes. She loved to cook and bake. Her and her husband rode motorcycles when she was able. They liked to travel and sightsee. She was a Christian by faith, she greeted at church and help do dinners. Carol was a people person and loved being in the public talking to and helping others. She was the last of all her siblings. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 63 years, Dale E. Hartley; son, Michael Hartley (Lavannia) of New Philly, Ohio; daughter, Marsha Hacker (Gary) of Gassaway; grandchildren, Miranda Grayley (Roy), Allison Woods, Jessica Simons (Thorn), Monica Mathis (Weston), Leanna Blankenship (Bud), McKayla Hill (Kevin); great grandchildren, Owen, Addelyne, Vera, Nova, Taylor, Logan, Levi, Mason, Jaxon, Jody, Alex, Nova Kaye, and one making her appearance in November, Caroline; great great grandchildren, Rhett and Presley; and several nieces and nephews.
