Shirley Carol McMillion, 82, of Gassaway passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at home. She was born December 18, 1938 in Gassaway to the late Robert and Ida Mae Nicholas Stout. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Greg McMillion; half-sister, Allie Mae Beall; and half-brothers, Oakey Stout and David Stout. Shirley married her husband after high school and they started their life together. The two of them had two children together. Family was most important to her. When the children were younger they traveled across the whole nation, including 42 states. She and her family vacationed at Myrtle Beach, SC and Shirley loved picking up sea shells. For most of her life, she was a secretary. She was a Christian by faith and served God with her voice by singing in the choir. Shirley, her parents, and her cousin, Ruby Wayne, were in a group that traveled and went to different churches to sing. In her later years she was a homebody but she loved her flowers and birdwatching and bird feeding. She also enjoyed knitting. She would often watch the Gameshow network and every evening she and Bobby watched Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Shirley will be forever remembered by her husband of 65 years, Robert “Bobby” McMillion; daughter, Andrea Million, both of Gassaway; and sister, Julia White and husband, Dave, of Elyria, Ohio. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 P.M. Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton Street, Gassaway, WV. Shirley’s funeral service will 11 A.M. Monday, October 25 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Chapel.
