James William “Bill” Paintiff

James William “Bill” Paintiff, 79, of Gassaway passed away on March 22, 2020 at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.

He was born February 10, 1941 in Gassaway a son of the late Dovie Mae McCumbers Paintiff and Grover Lee Paintiff.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Ann Paintiff.

Bill was a born again Christian; a Methodist by faith.  He did many different jobs and his last position he held was working for the City of Sutton.  He loved woodworking.  He was an outdoorsman that loved farming, gardening, fishing and hunting deer and squirrel.  He enjoyed watching professional football on TV.

He will be forever remembered by his stepson, Don Schoolcraft of Wilsie; stepdaughter, Vickie Bailey of Duncan, SC; brother, Robert Lee Paintiff of Frametown; half sister, Ruth Steele and husband, Jack, of Quarryville, PA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held for the family with Reverend Robert Paintiff officiating.
