Everett J. “Pop” Shaver

Everett J. “Pop” Shaver, 88, of Sutton, passed away on January 21, 2020 at Genesis Salem Center.

He was born October 4, 1931 a son of the late Everett Boyd Shaver and Belle Lockard Shaver.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ialene Shaver; son, Donald Linger; and two sisters.

Everett was an employee of Weston State Hospital for many years.  He retired as the transportation director for Braxton County Schools.  He enjoyed the process of clockmaking   He also liked to fish and hunt when he was able. He would often take car drives and go on outings with his family.   “Pop” was a sweet gentleman that never met a stranger.  He will be deeply missed.

He will be fondly remembered by sons, Edgar Linger (Sue) of Sevierville, TN, William Linger (Sharry) of Conroe, TX, Larry S. Linger (Jane) of Salem, VA, Clinton Linger (Helena) of Sutton, Neil Linger (Joanna) of NC; daughter in law, Janet Linger  of Weston; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and fur baby dog, Queen Ann.

Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Monday, January 27, 2020 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway.  Interment will be in the Shaver Family Cemetery, Riffle.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday, January 26 at the funeral home.
