Ruth Brady Six

Ruth Brady Six, 90, of Gassaway, passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at CAMC Memorial.

She was born February 1, 1928 in Braxton County a daughter of the late Richard E. Brady and Dora Hughes Brady.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. “Babe” Six; brothers, Richard E. “Jr” Brady, Evan Brady and Dennis Brady; and sister, Mary Grey Luikart.

Ruth graduated from Glenville State College and began her career as an elementary school teacher. In her early years she taught at Frametown School and then later taught at Davis Grade School. She was also the public librarian for many years. She also won “Citizen of the Year” at the Gassaway Days Celebration. Ruth was a member of Gassaway United Methodist Church and GUMC Women where she taught Sunday school and prepared food for all of the church dinners. She willingly served the Lord by putting together the Community Church Calendar and the Church Christmas baskets that fed and clothed many. She also volunteered her time to the Heart and Cancer Associations and the Girl Scouts.

She is survived by her son, James R. “Jimmie” (Melissa) Six II; daughters, Debbie (Melvin “Buster”) Gum, and Susan Belknap; sister, Bonnie Bender; grandchildren, Kimberly D. Gum, Michael Belknap, James Roy Belknap, Cynthia Belknap, Amber Belknap, Josiah Six, Joshua Six, Jaimeson Six, and Jacolyn Six.

Funeral service will be 10 A.M. Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Gassaway United Methodist Church with Reverend Stephen J. White and Reverend James Malick officiating. Interment will be in the Jarvis Cemetery near Gassaway.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 P.M. Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway.
