Mary Lou Jarvis Halstead

Mary Lou Jarvis Halstead, 63 of Strange Creek, passed away on November 16, 2017 at Raleigh General Hospital.

She was born June 24, 1954 in Sutton, a daughter of the late Woodrow Jarvis and Maggie Marie Carpenter.

Mary was a Christian by faith, and a member of the Strange Creek Independent Church. She was a homemaker, and worked as a receptionist at Community Care West Virginia in Flatwoods, WV. Mary loved canning, reading, and going to church.

She is survived by daughters, Allison Buff and husband Lucas of Morganton, NC, Pamela Elkins and husband Timothy of Gray, GA; brother, James Jarvis of Strange Creek, WV; sisters, Charlotte Hyer and husband Ray of Clover, SC, Linda Robinson of Strange Creek, WV, Amy Glover and husband Mike of Strange Creek, WV; one granddaughter, Annabelle Elkins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Bobby Jarvis; sister, Shirley Kay.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway. A small group of family and friends will attend the interment at the Jarvis Family Cemetery, Strange Creek.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Monday, from 11 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
