Virginia Brown

Virginia Brown, 87 of Flatwoods, passed away Saturday October 28, 2017 at Braxton Health Care Center where she had been a resident for the past five years.

She was born Virginia Mae Mitchell on January 2, 1930 in Belfont, WV to the late Edgar Mitchell and Nettie Carr Mitchell.

In April of 1947 she married Harlis Brown who preceded her in death after over 60 years of marriage. Also preceding her in death were, her eldest daughter, Wanda Mills; son-in-law Jack Mills; brother Herbert “Bud” Mitchell and grandson, Gary Hollen.

She is survived by her daughter, Lois Dobbins of Sutton; grandson, whom she raised, Shawn Brown and wife, Lorie of Flatwoods; sister, Wavolene Keener and husband, Gary of Flatwoods. Also surviving are Grandsons, Jack Lee Mills and wife, Julie of Norton Ohio and Travis Hollen of Buckhannon; granddaughter, Jenna Cheuvront and husband, Randy of Clarksburg. Finally, she is survived by 10 great grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2017 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway. Interment will be in the Houston Carr Cemetery, Belfont.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
