Carlos Dean Delaney, 85, of Centerville, Ohio, peacefully passed away on April 03, 2017 at Quaker Heights Nursing Home surrounded by his family.
Carlos was born October 9, 1933 in Lower Sleith, West Virginia to the late Spencer and Maysel (Mollohan) Delaney. He graduated from Gassaway High School in 1949. On 19 February 1951, he joined the United States Air Force. This was during the Korean War where Carlos served as a jet mechanic on the flight line stateside, repairing aircraft to be returned to service. He was honorably discharged in 1955. On October 11, 1956 he married the former Ruth Arthelia Ashton in Hubbard, Ohio. After leaving the Service, Carlos was employed as a flight mechanic for the Air Force Reserves and later became a civil servant as a Quality Control and Quality Assurance Specialist for aircraft being sold to the U.S. Department of Defense. After 41 years of service that took him all over the world, he retired in 1992. He enjoyed working on all manner of projects from restoring furniture to rebuilding small engines. He had a particular affinity for working on electric motors.
He also enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time at the cabin in West Virginia where he could visit with his 7 brothers and sisters in the hills where they grew up. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons to share his unique wit and wisdom.
Carlos is survived by his children, Jennifer Delaney and her Husband Ken Berta, Darlene Delaney of Ohio and Terry Delaney and his wife Brenda Connor of Colorado and his Grandsons who he loved very much Clifford “Trey” E. Nunley III of Chicago, Il and Spencer Delaney Berta of Ohio. He also leaves behind his Brothers and Sisters – Evelyn Boggs (Delaney), Chester Delaney, Betty Hudley (Delaney), Marvin Delaney and his wife Neva Jo, Margret Shannon (Delaney), Clova Lee Jacobs (Delaney) and her Husband John, Steve Delaney and his wife, Nancy and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Delaney (Brown) in 2001, his wife, Ruth Delaney (Ashton) in 2009, and his parents, Spencer and Maysel Delaney (Mollohan).

A celebration of life service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, WV.
A gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to service.
