Franklin Gerald "Jerry" Simmons

Franklin Gerald “Jerry” Simmons, 78, of Duck, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017 at home after a short illness.

He was a Baptist by faith and attended Son Rise Fellowship at Duck. He was born May 25, 1938 in Sutton, a son of the late Frank and Olive Grace Heater Simmons. He was retired from IUOE Local 132 since 1999.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Karen Moore Simmons; son, Greg [Robin] Simmons of Summersville; 3 grandchildren, Tosha [Spencer] Christenson, Kattie and Abby Riffle of Summersville; one great-grandson, Gabriel Christenson; five sisters, Iva Ramsey, Mabel Arcara, Jean Wright, Judy Singleton, and Karen Simmons.

He is preceded in death by son, Brent Simmons; 2 sisters, Delores “Toots” Cochran, Sylvia Reynolds; 3 brothers, Lee, Pat, and Mike.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Joe Bob Truman and Pastor Jeremy Holcomb officiating. Interment will be in the Moore Family Cemetery, Servia.

Family will receive friends Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m.
