Ronald F. "Butch" Gunter

Ronald F. ”Butch” Gunter, 83, of Napier, formerly of Gassaway, passed away January 4, 2016 at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport.

He was born January 9, 1932 in Braxton County a son of the late Aubrey Emory and Genevive Lee Hyer Gunter.

He was preceded in death by brother, Kenneth Aubrey Gunter; sisters, Marjorie Ellen McLaughlin and Violet Lee Gunter; nephew, Matthew Gunter.

Butch was retired from the State of West Virginia and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and dearly loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Becky Underwood Gunter; son, Thomas James Gunter and wife, Denise; daughter, Deborah Lee Weddington and husband, John; brothers, Jerry Allen Gunter and David Hyer Gunter; grandchildren, Chad Jenkins, Rebecca Weddington, Benjamin Weddington, Jacob Weddington, Jessiah Gunter and Hollie Vermessen; step grandson, Jason Kincaid; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; his cat, Toadie.

Per Butch’s request his body was cremated.

A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor David Gunter officiating.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the memorial service.
