Lairy’s funeral will be at 1 P.M., Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton Street, Gassaway, WV with Pastor Joseph Parsons II, officiating.

Burial with military rites will follow in the Keener-Stout Cemetery, Frametown.

His visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Larry (Lairy) Stephen Keener, 83, of Newcomerstown, Ohio, formerly of Frametown, WV entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 25, 2026.

He was born June 27, 1942, in Gassaway, the son of the late Okey Byrd Keener and Effie Jane Harrison Keener.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hildreth Enid Ellis Keener; brothers, Noah, Roger, and Okey Jr.; and sisters, Greta, Ida, Ruby and Shirley.

Lairy served in the United States Navy on the USS Midway from October 16, 1961, to June 26, 1963, with an honorable discharge. Several years later he married Hildreth Enid Ellis on August 22, 1978. His employment was at B and C Research doing factory work until he had a heart attack in 2000. Following his health issues, he volunteered at food banks, Senior Citizen Centers, and helping veterans. He also enjoyed playing BINGO and the Ohio Lottery. His outgoing personality will be missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Lairy Keener, Jr of WV, Laura Keener of WV, Stephanie Keener (Troy) of South Carolina, Karen Keener (Bruce) of Coshocton, Ohio, Kerry Keener (Electa) of Newcomerstown, Ohio and Luke Keener (Rhonda) of Newcomerstown, Ohio; beloved granddaughter, Amber Nichole; 28 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; brother, James (Linda) Keener of Barberton, Ohio; sister, Iva (Bill) Baucom of Akron, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
