Shannon Darlene Carr

Shannon Darlene Carr, 74, of Gassaway passed away unexpectedly from an illness on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, WV.

She was born on September 4, 1951, in Webster County.

Darlene was preceded in death by her father, Alexander “Eckie” Sandy.

Reading and collecting all types of rocks were her favorite pastimes. She enjoyed playing games, cards, walking, shopping, petting animals, sewing, cooking and canning. She enjoyed being in nature and helping Ted on the farm. Darlene was a long-time member of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall in Sutton involved in their outreach and bible studies ministries.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 34 years, Edward Ray “Ted” Carr; mother, Gladys Payne Sandy of Little Birch; sister, Margaret Ann Harper and husband, Randy of Little Birch; brothers-in-law, Bill Joe Carr and wife, Libby, of Gassaway, and Tom Carr and wife, Rachel of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated and a Celebration of her life will be held at later date.
