Charles J. McCumbers, Sr., 70, of Gassaway passed aaway peacefully on Monday, November 23, 2020 at home with his family by his side.

He was born March 12, 1950, at Walnut Fork, Servia, a son of the late Noah and Mary Starcher McCumbers.

Charles worked in the timber industry, farming and with his son as an equipment operator.  He was a former member of Frametown VFD, as well as Braxton EMS.

He will be fondly remembered by his wife of over 48 years, Loretta McCumbers; son, Charles Jr. and companion, Johnna Cable of Gassaway; his loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; brothers, Gary (Margaret) of Nicut, Paul (Donna), and  Roy (Linda) all of Gassaway, Clarence of Akron, OH, Ricky of Sutton; and sister, Betty of Gassaway.

Charles was preceded in death by brothers, Willard, William, Donald, Willie, Gene, and Robert; sister, Wilma; daughter-in-law, Christina Rexroad McCumbers.

A private family service was held Tuesday, November 24, 2020 with neighbor, friend and lay speaker Paul Krashoc officiating.  Burial took place on the family farm.
