Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Billie Sue Hamil, 71, of Little Birch, West Virginia passed away on August 14, 2017 after a long illness. She will be forever remembered by her son, Robert D. Hamil of Sutton, WV and his longtime friend Kim; her daughter, Laura F. Green and husband Joseph Green; grandchildren, Nancy (Mulhare) Joseph and husband Alex Joseph, Kathleen Mulhare, Joseph Green, James Green, Samuel Green and one great grandson, Cameron Butcher; sisters, Thelma Jackson, Nancy Linville and husband Melvin; brothers, Jim Long and wife Virginia, Donny Long and Golden Long along with numerous nieces and nephews. Waiting to welcome her home are her husband of 47 years, Joseph Hamil; her parents, Dewey and Laura (Jackson) Long; her grandparents, AC Long and Anzina (Sutton) Long and Oscar and Nancy (Hefner) Jackson; two brothers, Lessie Long and Dana Long. Billie was born on September 12, 1945. She moved to New York City when she was 18 and married her husband Joseph shortly thereafter. She has always believed in giving back to the community. She was the former president of a NYC Tenant Association that forced Landlords to make much needed repairs and subsidize rents. She was a Cub/Boy Scout and Girl Scout Leader for over 18 years. Upon retirement, Billie returned home to the Windy Run Historical Association which is dedicated to the preservation of the 1889 one room Windy Run School. She was a 16 year volunteer at a local food pantry and thrift store and an organizing partner of Encore, a nonprofit thrift store that uses its proceeds to help the people and children of her community.
