Mary Lee Slaughter, 104 years old, of Homeworth, Ohio, former long- time resident of Gassaway WV passed away at The Alliance Community Center on July 4, 2017 after a short illness.

She was born in Hominy Mills, WV, Nicholas County.

She was a homemaker who loved sewing, quilting, flowers, gardening and fishing. She loved spending time with her daughter and all of her family. She was a long-time member of the Sugar Creek Baptist Church. She volunteered at Braxton County Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by daughter, Barbara Davis (son in law James, deceased); brother, Steve Duckworth (Janet); seven Grandchildren, Penny Lee (Todd), Jim (Denise), Mark (Kris), Blaine (Laura), Mike (Nada), Matt (Patricia), Melissa(Brian); 14 Great Grandchildren, Cameron, Zac, Jake, Caitlyn, Jessica, Megan, Sam, Luke, Nick, Kristina, Stephen, Andrijana, Azmera, Alicia and two step Great-grandchildren, Sarah and Ally.

She was preceded in death by husband, James A. Slaughter; four brothers, Blen (Ethelene), Stewart (Marjorie), Henry (Anabelle) and Jim Duckworth. She was loved by many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Craig Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway.

Visitation will be two hours prior to service.
