Laurie Dee O’Malley (née Heater) passed from this life surrounded by her children on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the age of 68.

A beloved daughter, sister, mother, and aunt, Laurie was born on July 13, 1957, to John and Betty Heater of Gassaway, West Virginia, who preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Carrie O’Malley and fiancé, Stu, and son, Patrick O’Malley and wife, Lindsey; her brothers, David Heater and Sam Heater; and her cherished nieces and nephews.

Laurie was a 1975 graduate of Braxton County High School and later earned her Medical Assistant degree from WV Career College in Morgantown. She spent many years as Payroll Manager at the GoMart, Inc. headquarters in Gassaway, where she was known for her dedication and reliability.

She had a deep love for 1970s rock music, reading, movies, fashion, family gatherings, trips to the beach, and spending time with tiny dogs she adored. Above all, Laurie loved her family. She will be remembered for her quiet strength, warmth, and the enduring love she gave so freely.

Laurie was cremated and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Gassaway United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve White officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
