Hazel M. Kemp, 97, of Gassaway passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025.

She was born on April 6, 1928, in Dutch, WV to the late Homer Allen and Sarah Jane Blake Allen.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Arminta Ratliff, Iva Viola Ratliff, Willis Lee Allen, Myrtle Mabel Allen, Margaret Opal Conley, Sarah Ann Ratliff, Howard Allen, Earlie Morgan Allen, Ressie Leona Conley, and Alvin Harold Allen and her son, Gary Kemp.

Hazel attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Sutton. She enjoyed watching Andy Griffith on the television. In her younger years she and her husband planted a garden, and she would often prep and can vegetables from their harvest. Also in her younger days she liked to play old-time country music on her guitar.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 72 years, William “Bill” Kemp of Gassaway and son, Marvin Kemp and wife, Debbie, of Sutton.

In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated and no services will be held.
