Sharon Rae Stewart, 75, of Chapel Road, Gassaway, WV went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 16, 2020.

She was born February 11, 1945 in Gassaway, a daughter of the late Darrell “Thomp” Thompson and Sara Marie Metz Thompson.

Sharon was a homemaker.  She enjoyed spending her time with her family.  She loved watching her great grandchildren play sports.  Sharon loved being “Nanny Sharon” to all her grandchildren and their friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Bill Thompson and Chip Thompson; sisters, Pat Whitesel and twin sister, which she considered to be the other half of her heart, Shirley Lemon.  She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Ethen Tyler Flint.

Sharon is survived by her two daughters, Shawn Darnold and husband, Scott, of Kenna, WV, and Melinda Flint and husband, Rob, of Centralia, WV; grandchildren, LaShawna Kessel, Montana Hoover, Hunter Faber, and Noah Darnold; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Thompson and Mike Thompson; and one sister, Karen Woods.

Special thanks to Lena Wright for the excellent care over the years for our mom and grandmother.  Also thanks to Fresenius Center.  We are so thankful and appreciative for all of the love and support from friends and family that have stopped by, called, and messaged us!

Nanny Sharon will be greatly missed by all who knew her, however the family finds comfort in knowing she is pain free and finally home with her grandson, Ethen; and her twin sister, the other half of her heart.

Huge thank you to Roach Funeral Home in Gassaway, WV, for their compassion and care, as well as handling Sharon’s service.
