In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Sam Cowger.

After graduating from Seville High School in Seville, OH, she continued her education and obtained her beautician’s license. She was the manager of Braxton Manor for many years, and she owned and operated a cabinet and upholstery business with her husband, while raising her three grateful children. She was active in the community and volunteered as a homeroom mother to many children of the Davis elementary school, served as a Sunday School teacher and assisted with various events at the Gassaway United Methodist Church. Patty eagerly attended and graciously helped with the Girl Scout meetings and functions. She enjoyed making and painting crafts with Vaughn, and had a deep passion for genealogy.
