Per his wishes, his body was donated to WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center. A Celebration of his life will be held 2p.m. July 14, 2018 at First Baptist Temple, Chapel, WV. Family and friends may gather from 1p.m. until the time of the service.

James A. “Al” Haney, 93 of Chapel Route, Gassaway peacefully departed this life and passed on to eternity on June 25, 2018. He was a member of First Baptist Temple which he loved very much and a US Navy veteran of WW II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by beloved wife, Catherine; brother, Warren; and sister, Bernice.

Prior to his moving to WV, he owned a small construction company and various other businesses. He relocated to WV when I-79 was being built where he was Master Mechanic for Vecellio & Grogan and S.J. Groves Construction Companies. He was part owner of H & D Hardwoods.

One of his favorite hobbies was gardening. He also loved to share his talent with others by singing and playing his guitar.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth (Phyllis) Haney of Sutton, WV; grandchildren, Kenny (Bridget) Haney of Gassaway, WV, Chris (Paige) Haney of Wilmington, NC, and Mandy (Todd) Jordan of Sissonville, WV. Great grandchildren are Kyle Haney, Josh Waldron, Kennedy Haney, Reagan Haney, Walker Haney, Tessa Jordan, Grady Jordan. Also left behind is his favorite fur baby “Jake”.
