The quietly, determinedly inspirational Evelyn Boggs has left this world to join her family in heaven.

Evelyn is welcomed in Heaven by her parents, Spencer and Maysel Delaney; her daughter, Melissa Boggs Hendee; and brothers, Carlos and Marvin Delaney; and sister, Betty Delaney Hundley as well as her Aunt Mary Rogers; and ex-husband, Roscoe Boggs.

Missing her are sons, Chris Boggs and family, Brent Boggs and family; her care-giver of the past several years, daughter, Jane Boggs, and her most beloved Grandchildren, Allison and Nickolas Hendee.   Evelyn’s siblings, Chester, Margaret, Clova Lee and Steve – with their families all mourn her passing.

Evelyn was born in December, 1927.  Graduating Gassaway High School at 16, she immediately went to Glenville State College, started teaching in the one room school house on Lower Sleith, and took a job as 4-H Extension Agent in Braxton County.  As important as her family was, she had the desire to help others through education.  Teaching and 4-H were practical methods to help others improve their lives and prospects.

Evelyn continued teaching in Braxton, Clay, Mason and Berkeley counties.  She continued her own education through a Masters in Remedial Reading, again helping those that most needed help.

Later she worked as a volunteer at local Women’s shelters, was active in her church and continued to help her family through life’s many tribulations.

Evelyn’s family and friends will join together to share remembrances and mark her February 16th passing at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, on Saturday,  February 22nd , 2020 at 2pm.   Visitation will be from 1pm till time of service.

Interment will be in Beall’s Mill Cemetery, Gassaway.
