Service will be Noon Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Rick Hart officiating. Interment will be in the Frederick Gerwig Memorial Cemetery, Toms Run, Chapel, WV.

Visitation will be two hours prior to service.

Alpha Coberly Gerwig, 80, of Clendenin, passed away, June 30, 2016 following a long illness.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dane K. Gerwig; sons, Dane Larry Gerwig (Judy) of Charleston and Alan L. Gerwig (Anne) of Wellington, FL; grandchildren, Jessica, Dane and Luke; brother, Rolland Coberly of Glenville.

Born May 24, 1936, Alpha grew up on her family’s farm in Gilmer County near Glenville. She graduated from Glenville High School and attended Glenville State College. She married and traveled with her loving husband, Dane as he served in the U.S. Army. After Dane’s service enrollment was complete, they settled in Clendenin, WV where they raised their two sons, Larry and Alan. She worked as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Fish and Wildlife at the WV Dept. of Natural Resources for over 35 years before retiring.

Alpha loved music, wildlife, travel, flowers, fishing, camping and gardening. She was passionate about her grandchildren.

She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all.
